Can anyone tell me what you have just witnesses? What do you think happened? How did it affect the people in the united states?

Objectives:

To have the students learn about the Challenger explosion. Also how it affected a country like the United States. The students will be able to also see how a country can pull together when times are rough.

lecture and Discussion:

1. Why was the Challenger being watched by everyone in the Unites States? What made this mission different than any other rocketship we have sent to space.

2. Describe the reaction of the country in a whole? How did the United States make sure this kind of explosion never happened again.

3. Who were all the passengers on the Challenger and what made them so popular with the Unites States?
