Hello! My name is Miss Joanna. Welcome to my classroom!

First, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have recieved a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education with a minor in philosophy. I have been working with children since I could work and it is a great joy in my life. I love what I do and I am very happy that i get the chance to share this with you and your children this year!

Throughout my own learning, I have developed a constructivist method of teaching. This method involves the student to learn independently. By allowing the students to discover things on their own, they can understand the knowledge they are receiving and remember it, rather then just listening to lecture and forgetting what hey learned after the test. The classroom will be filled with wonderful hands on/minds on activities for them to do with guided help from me as they go along.

Not only will they be receiving a wonderful learning environment in the classroom, they will also be introduced to some lessons on the computer. This will get them used to using technology and working on their own. Lessons on the computer can be very useful to children because they can navigate their way through websites and learn about what interests them first. There are also some very great simulations and interactive learning games for students on the internet that are fun and still allow them to learn the material. All of the websites I have included in my lesson plans arre student centered and the navigation of the internet is controlled, the students do not have access to everything on the net.
