The Sun's Secrets?


I. Bell Ringer:
1. When you wake up in the morning what is one thing you always see everyday without fail?
2. Think about how you go through your day, and how you personally would be affected if there was no sunlight.
II. Objectives:
1. Review the planets of the Solar System, and where they are located in relation to the sun
2. Become familiar with parts of sun
3. Discuss the new theories on the development of the sun, and how it could have affected the birth of the solar system
III. Lecture/Dscussion:
1. Planets - Look and learn briefly about each one
2. View and discuss video clip about the formation of the sun
3. Learn about newest discovery on how sun was formed, compared to old one - article
IV. Anticipatory Set:
1. What would our earth be like if we didn't have sunlight? What are the many things we take for granted becsue we have sunlight? If one day the sun disapeared, do you think we could survive?
V. Learning Activity:
1. See how well you have learned about the sun by dong a scavenger hunt here, and seeing what prize you win if you get all the answers correct!
VI. Closure:
1. Send in the results to your sacavenger hunt and share answers with clss to see how well you did.
