Article: Mutual Funds Ask N.Y.S.E for Rule Change.(March 3, 2001)

Bell Ringer: I will show the quotes of the day on the overhead projector and ask the students to tell
me if they have ever seen these before. If so where and what do they think it is. Have they ever
seen there parents look at them. Then begin a class disicussion.
Objectives: Students will be able to:
-explain what the NYSE is
- explain what it's purpose is
- tell why it is beneficial to us
-tell how we can invest in it and why it is important
Questions and Video Clips: The students will go to the website of the New York Stock Exchange
and look information they would like to expand on or look up information they are not aware of.
Data Facts:We will have a class discussion and look up information together.
Practice:As a class we will chose a stock to invest in and pretend to follow it and see how much we
can achieve. Then we learn how to buy and sell at the proper times. We will also go to a web based
interactive stock market and complete it as a class.

Closure: have the students pick there own stock and follow it on there own time and make a graph
to present to the class.
