Bell Ringer:

What makes these pictures sound alike? HINT: say each picture slowly.

After the children say the picture showly, they realize that the pictures have the sound "ar". Next time they see these words, they will remember the "ar" sound and visualize the pictures that will go with the words.

This apoarch is constructive because this picture helps the children identified each picture with the "ar'' sound. Once the children realize that each picture has the "ar" sound, they will then hopeful remember the words with the picture the next time they see the words, far, star or bar.
